Straight out of college into the working life. Merel completed her Communication and Multimedia Design studies in 2021 and posted a message with a cool video on LinkedIn: "job wanted!" Workspace 365 stood out for her, for a number of reasons.
Looking for a new job
"I was very consciously looking for a young company, where I could use my creativity and where I would work with young people. I don't like to color within the lines and want to continue to develop myself. After a few interviews at Workspace 365, I found out that they actually had everything I was looking for."
Approachable
Colleagues within the same stage, that creates a bond. "There are more people who also started at Workspace 365 directly from school or who have just taken their 2nd or 3rd step. There is a lot of involvement, both on a content level and on a personal level. You go to the pub with each other once or you share experiences on a professional level. Both related to Workspace 365 and beyond. For example, in addition to my work at Workspace 365, I also do freelance work. So does another colleague. We sometimes spar with each other about that. It is nice to see that as colleagues we know what is going on in life from each other."
Learning at Workspace 365
The IT world was new to Merel. Her little brother works within this industry, but his stories, she did not always understand. "I thought like Pippi Longstocking: I've never done it before, so I think I can do it. It helped me enormously that there are many young people working there. As a result, I did not feel a high threshold for asking something of others. Both within my own team and outside. Everyone is happy to explain things from his or her own expertise. This has ensured that I can now discuss a VDI connection on the terrace. Who would have thought that!"
Trust and responsibility
However, IT is a bit of a side issue. From her role, Merel is mainly concerned with texts, videos, animations and images. "I really like the fact that a lot of trust is given from day one. You can figure things out yourself, pick them up and tackle them. I experienced that differently during my internships, for example. Here I can really make a contribution and therefore I feel incredibly involved."
Empower People
The combination of learning, developing and having fun with colleagues is the key to success for Merel. "To me, that is Empower People. Putting people in their power, giving them confidence and the opportunity to learn from each other. On the one hand, that is facilitated by Workspace 365 with, for example, an inspiring Monthly, but fortunately colleagues themselves also take the initiative, for example by organizing a winter sports event. Within Workspace 365, I feel empowered every day and that works very nicely!"
